Love Is Blind: UK season 2 is still in full swing, but early fan favorite Demola Ayilara is already entering the reality TV hall of fame. In a strange twist of reality dating show fate, LIB: UK's Demola is actually related to Bachelorette alum Dotun Olubeko. No wonder he’s such a natural.
Dotun, who got engaged to Bachelorette Charity Lawson on season 20 of the show, revealed his surprising family connection to the LIB: UK contestant on Instagram this week when he posted a Story of himself watching Demola entering the pods. “Finally caught up on last week’s ep of LiB,” he wrote in part, tagging Demola and adding, “Way to put your whole heart out there family, not easy especially in that format.”

Later, during an Instagram Q&A, Demola confirmed that he wasn’t just using “family” as a term of endearment. Alongside a photo of Dotun and Charity, he wrote, “Dotun is my long lost cousin who I met for the first time in my late teens, and ever since then we’ve been solid.” He continued, “Had many adventures together. He’s my guy, and of course Charity is his beautiful missus. I love them both.”
Dotun reposted the Story and shared his own clarification to followers, explaining that they are cousins who “met later in life due to living in different countries.” The two apparently “clicked right off the bat,” but Dotun is still surprised that they both would up seeking love on television. “Neither of us considered or seeked reality TV but it found us both independently. Crazyyy how life happens,” he wrote.

Two cousins on opposite sides of the world going on massive reality dating shows is quite the coincidence, but unfortunately for Demola, that’s where the similarities end. While Dotun left The Bachelorette with a fiancée, Demola left the LIB: UK pods alone after forming a strong connection with Katisha Atkinson. (And, yes, according to his Instagram Story, Dotun was watching!)
