Galena-area home listed for $1.5 million comes with airplane hangar and private lookout

Central Ohio pilots in need of a place to park their Cessnas are in luck.

A Galena-area home on the market comes with its own hangar.

The home, which has been listed on and off for a year, recently saw its price drop to $1.5 million, down from the original price of $2 million. Situated on five acres set off the road, the property comes with access to a neighboring airstrip.

"The views out of every window are just so stunning," said Leah Bastin, who is listing the property for Cutler Real Estate.

Built in 1981, the home has been extensively renovated over the years, resulting in an open and modern interior. With 4,422 square feet of finished space, the house includes four bedrooms, three full baths and two half baths.

A 44-year-old Delaware County home has been opened up and modernized.

Amenities include a stocked pond with a dock and beach, an outdoor shower, a four-season sunroom, a finished lower level with full bath and a private lookout.

"In the primary suite, you have access through the closet to a third-floor lookout, a private space," Bastin said. "The current owners like it for meditation, yoga, but you could use it for a lot of things."

And, the property comes with the airplane hangar. The 5,156-square-foot building includes both an insulated and heated hangar and an uninsulated pole barn. The hangar includes 14-foot ceilings, a 40-foot door and a half-bath.

"If you're an aviation enthusiast, you might be able to get two planes in there," Bastin said. "There are also tie-down anchors in in concrete in the front of the hangar for a plane. If you don't have an airplane, it's a really cool space that could be a great gym, maybe a golf simulator, a great space you could use all year long. .... You could fit a ton of cars in there."

The home, in Berlin Township east of Alum Creek, is in the Olentangy school district.

The home is at least the second central Ohio home with an airstrip and hangar to come on the market in recent years. In October 2023, the former Marysville home of Scotts Miracle-Gro CEO Jim Hagedorn, a pilot, was listed.
