Thousands of demonstrators gather in Tehran
In response to US strikes on Iranian nuclear sites, thousands of demonstrators gathered in Tehran's central Enghelab Square on Sunday evening, chanting and waving anti-American flags.
"Down with the USA, down with Israel"
"Down with the USA, down with Israel" could be read on the demonstrators' placards, according to images published by the state-affiliated Fars news agency."Death to America!"
Demonstrators also chanted "Death to America!", as seen in a video shared on Telegram by the Iranian Students News Agency (ISNA).
In support of Ayatollah Ali Khamenei
Others held portraits of the country's Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, who did not speak publicly since the US offensive at that point.
The infamous two-week notice
On Thursday, US President Donald Trump said he would give himself two weeks to decide on a potential attack in Iran, suggesting that a window of negotiation remained open.
Trump orders the bombing
Donald Trump then did a 180, ordering the bombing, on Saturday night, of three key sites officially housing enriched uranium: Fordo, Natanz and Isfahan. This decision places the United States at the heart of the Israeli-Iranian conflict.
"completely and fully obliterated"
According to Mr. Trump, the three targeted sites have been "completely and fully obliterated". However, his Secretary of Defense said that a full assessment of the damage was still underway.
A dozen injured
Nearly a dozen people were injured in the US strikes on nuclear sites, four of whom were hospitalized, the Iranian Red Crescent Society said in a statement.
