Shriners Children’s Hospital in Shreveport receives its largest donation ever

SHREVEPORT, La. (KSLA) - Shriners Children’s Hospital in Shreveport has received its largest donation ever.

On Thursday, July 10, 2025, Shriners Children's Hospital in Shreveport held a special ceremony to honor the late Hollis Ray Walker, who donated his entire estate to the hospital.

On Thursday, July 10, the hospital held a special program to honor the late donor, Hollis Ray Waller.

“You have to realize, he made this decision when he was in his 30s, early 30s. That’s when he wrote the will and left everything to them. So he planned for this for 40 years. He never wavered. He never changed it. He never did anything,” said L. Cade Havard, a lifelong friend of the donor.

Waller’s gift will be used to support the operational expenses of the Shreveport Shriners facility, helping to ensure children from throughout the Shreveport area and far beyond will benefit from its life-changing care.
