Weather warning issued for five counties amid further unsettled conditions

A Yellow thunderstorm warning has been issued for five counties amid further unsettled and changeable weather.

Daily temperatures have remained in the high teens and early 20s, though there has been little to no sun and plenty of rain in recent days.

It comes amid a thunderstorm warning issued earlier in the week, with a fresh one issued for Thursday.

The UK Met Office have issued a thunderstorm warning for Antrim, Armagh, Derry, Fermanagh and Tyrone effective from 11am on Thursday until 8pm.

The warning said: ‘Heavy showers and a few thunderstorms may cause some disruption, particularly to travel, on Thursday.’

It comes as Met Éireann confirm a ‘rather unsettled’ couple of days ahead, with rain extending eastwards to all areas on Thursday and spot flooding a possibility.

On Thursday night, it will be clear at first though drizzle will spread eastwards overnight, leading into a cloudy Friday morning with patchy light rain and drizzle.

The day is expected to brighten up with sunny spells and scattered showers developing and highest temperatures of 22 degrees.

Saturday and Sunday are looking to be drier and sunnier though there are scattered showers forecast on both days, some turning thundery.

Met Éireann said Sunday will be ‘generally dry with sunny spells and scattered showers’ some of which will turn heavier and thundery.

On Sunday there will be spells of sunshine along with ‘isolated, heavy and possibly thundery showers.’

Looking towards next week, the forecaster says that Monday will begin mostly cloudy with outbreaks of rain, while some sunny spells will develop later on through the day,

Temperatures will remain between the high teens and early temperatures with Monday seeing some ‘moderate to fresh westerly breezes.’
