Inferno destroys Tomorrowland main stage in Belgium
A fire has torn through the ice-themed mainstage at Tomorrowland where David Guetta was set to perform this weekend.
Local media reported that the fire may have started during a fireworks test at the site in Boom, Belgium.
Around 400,000 people are expected to attend the festival, which organisers have said will go ahead as planned.
Footage shows the thick black smoke pouring from the elaborate structure as flames engulfed the set.
Firefighter François van den Eynde said: ‘Despite all our resources, it was impossible to stop that fire, but it is clear that the fire spread very quickly. That, of course, has to do with the materials used.
‘We tried to extinguish the fire, but as soon as you notice it’s not working, you have to limit the damage to the rest of the festival. And that’s what we did. Everything is under control.’
Festival organisers said that nobody was injured and the DreamVille campsite will open as planned on Thursday.

Festival spokeswoman Debby Wilmsen said: ‘Now we’re going to figure out how to organise a safe and enjoyable festival.
‘It hurts a lot. I’m definitely not going to watch those images [of the fire]. This is years of work, and the work of many people. So much work went into it from the initial design to the practical implementation. Truly awful.’
People living close to the site were told to close their windows and stay indoors to avoid breathing in toxic smoke.
Frank Verstraeten, who was working installing screens on the festival site, told GVA: ‘Even though the main stage has the most expensive equipment, what’s more important is that everyone is safe.

‘This is a tragedy for everyone. But especially for Tomorrowland.’
Superstar DJ Anouk Matton, who was due to play a set this weekend, said she was ‘in complete shock’.
‘I’m getting a lot of videos sent to me, but other than that, I don’t know anything. I hope the festival can still go ahead.’
Dutch DJ Martin Garrix, who has just released a track with David Guetta, was due to headline the main stage on Friday night.
