Roberts Wesleyan Olympian signs with Adidas, forgoes final college season
King's four-year contract with Adidas marks the end of her college career. The graduate student was eligible to compete in one more indoor track and field season, she told the Democrat and Chronicle. Instead, King will stick around Roberts Wesleyan as a graduate assistant coach on Jenn and Rick Suhr's staff.
King plans to compete in the U.S. National Championships on July 31 in Eugene, Oregon. The World Championships begin Sept. 13 in Tokyo. She'll also travel to Europe for pro meets. Her current Addidas contract runs through the 2028 Summer Olympics in Los Angeles. Back in January, King signed a Name, Image, Likeness deal with Adidas.
"I think that I am ready. It's a great contract. I wanted to be with Adidas," King said in a release.
King concluded her grad year at Roberts by successfully defending her NCAA Division II outdoor pole vault championship in Colorado. She entered May's NCAA tournament seeded No. 1 by setting a national record jump of 15-feet, 7-inches.
King has won the indoor and outdoor titles twice since arriving from Duke. King competed in the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris.
