OMAHA, Neb. — Oregon State’s season is over.

After a thrilling postseason that included thrilling runs that included an unlikely run through the Corvallis Regional and a triumphant showing in the Corvallis Super Regional, the Beavers’ journey ended in Omaha.

Oregon State Beavers starting pitcher Nelson Keljo (36) throws to first baseman Jacob Krieg (22) against the Louisville Cardinals during the second inning at Charles Schwab Field June 17, 2025, in Omaha.

Louisville beat OSU, 7-6, in a College World Series elimination game at Charles Schwab Field. Cardinals' outfielder Eddie King Jr. lifted a sacrifice fly to score Alex Alicea and win it.

Mitch Canham’s squad ends its season at 48-16-1.

In order to make it to that point, the Beavers delivered a thrilling comeback in the top of the ninth to erase a three-run deficit. Aiva Arquette crushed a leadoff hitter to spark the comeback for OSU.

Oregon State starter Nelson Keljo got off to a rocky start and struggled to find his command in the first inning. He stabilized, but not before King Jr. tagged him for an RBI single.

From there, the Beavers spent all afternoon playing catch up. Jake Munroe launched a two-run homer in the third.

OSU got back into contention one inning later thanks to a two-run blast from Jacob Krieg.

Ultimately, though, the Beavers’ inability to cash in with runners in scoring position spelled doom. They left 12 runners on base over the course of nine innings.

Final: Louisville 7, Oregon State 6

Bottom of the 9th inning — Louisville 7, Oregon State 6

Kellan Oakes stayed on the hill in the ninth to face the top of Louisville's order. Righty Zach Edwards was up and throwing in the OSU bullpen at the start of the inning.

Alex Alicea drew a leadoff walk for Louisville and Lucas Moore was awarded first base due to catcher's interference from Wilson Weber.

Matt Klein tried to bunt both runners over and Oakes failed to field the ground ball cleanly. Klein reached on the error to load the bases with nobody out.

Edwards took over on the hill and struck out Jake Munroe for the first out of the inning.

But, Eddie King Jr. lifted a walk-off sacrifice fly to win it for the Cardinals.

Top of the 9th inning — Louisville 6, Oregon State 6

Left-hander Wyatt Danilowicz came on to face Oregon State's 2-3-4 hitters.

Aiva Arquette demolished the first pitch he saw for a solo homer to make it a two-run game. Gavin Turley followed by working a long at-bat that ended with him taking a single to the opposite field. Then, Turley moved up to second on a wild pitch.

That prompted a pitching change from Louisville, who turned to Tucker Bivens. The right-hander threw four innings and 54 pitches against Arizona on June 15.

Bivens walked the first batter he saw, Wilson Weber, on four pitches. The next batter, AJ Singer, blooped a single the other way to load the bases.

Tyce Peterson hit a slow roller to shortstop Alex Alicea, but Alicea whiffed on it and it went all the way to the outfield, allowing two runs to score. That tied the game at 6-6.

Jacob Krieg struck out looking for the first out. Carson McEntire followed with another strikeout.

Bottom of the 8th inning — Louisville 6, Oregon State 6

Eric Segura stayed on for OSU to face Louisville's 6-7-8 hitters. After back-to-back walks, though, and OSU called on Kellan Oakes to replace him.

Oakes rolled Kamau Neighbors into an inning-ending 6-3 double play.

Top of the 8th inning — Louisville 6, Oregon State 3

Louisville made another pitching change and turned to freshman righty Jake Schweitzer. He got through the bottom of OSU's order without much issue, and then retired leadoff man Trent Caraway to end the inning.

Bottom of the 7th inning — Louisville 6, Oregon State 3

AJ Hutcheson surrendered a one-out single, and OSU went back to the bullpen at the first sign of trouble.

Eric Segura, who was a candidate to start a potential June 18 game if the Beavers make it that far, took over on the mound to face cleanup man Jake Munroe.

Munroe tagged Segura for a first-pitch single down the right field line. The next batter, Eddie King Jr., lifted a sac fly to make it 6-3.

Munroe got caught in no-man's land between first and second base and was tagged out to end the inning.

Top of the 7th inning — Louisville 5, Oregon State 3

Right-hander Jack Brown took over on the mound for the Cardinals in the seventh. That could spell good news for the Beavers, who have struggled badly to hit lefties for much of the season and didn't fare particularly well against Louisville southpaw reliever Justin West.

Aiva Arquette greeted Brown with a single up the middle. Wilson Weber added another single two batters later.

But AJ Singer fouled out and Tyce Peterson lined out to end the inning. Louisville center fielder Lucas Moore made a nice coach in Peterson's liner.

Bottom of the 6th inning — Louisville 5, Oregon State 3

Bayram Hot crushed a hard-hit double to the left-center field gap to get Louisville going with two outs in the sixth.

The next batter, Kamau Neighbors, cashed in with an RBI single to right field to make it 5-3.

Top of the 6th inning — Louisville 4, Oregon State 3

AJ Singer worked a full-count walk to lead off the inning. Tyce Peterson followed with a perfect bunt through the right side of the infield and reached on a base hit.

Then, Justin West hit Jacob Krieg with a pitch to load the bases with nobody out.

Carson McEntire came on to pinch-hit for Easton Talt and worked a seven-pitch at-bat, but struck out.

Canon Reeder rolled into what could have been an inning-ending 6-4-3 double play. But first baseman Tague Davis couldn't hold onto the throw, which allowed AJ Singer to scored from third.

The next batter, Trent Caraway, flew out to end the inning.

Bottom of the 5th inning — Louisville 4, Oregon State 2

AJ Hutcheson stayed on in relief for OSU and worked a 1-2-3 inning against Louisville's 4-5-6 hitters.

Top of the 5th inning — Louisville 4, Oregon State 2

The heart of OSU's lineup — Aiva Arquette, Gavin Turley and Wilson Weber — went down in order against Cardinals' lefty Justin West.

Bottom of the 4th inning — Louisville 4, Oregon State 2

Sidewinding right-hander AJ Hutcheson took over on the hill for Oregon State in place of Nelson Keljo.

The first batter Hutcheson faced, Zion Rose, parked a solo homer in the left field bullpen to make it a two-run game.

Aside from Alex Alicea's two-out walk, Hutcheson avoided further damage in the fourth.

Top of the 4th inning — Louisville 3, Oregon State 2

Jacob Krieg clobbered a towering two-run homer to catapult OSU back in contention.

Louisville tried to get its opener, Brennyn Cutts through one more inning. But Krieg and the Beavers punished the Cardinals for the decision.

Cutts was immediately replaced by left-hander Justin West, who pitched against OSU when the two teams met on June 13.

Bottom of the 3rd inning — Louisville 3, Oregon State 0

Lucas Moore, one of the top runners at the College World Series, reached on an infield single. Despite OSU's best efforts to hold him at first, including multiple pickoff attempts from Nelson Keljo, Moore stole second.

Two batters later, Jake Munroe launched a two-run homer. Eddie King Jr. followed with a ground-rule double.

Keljo got out of the inning with a strikeout.

Top of the 3rd inning — Louisville 1, Oregon State 0

Louisville opener Brennyn Cutts stayed on in the third inning to face the top of OSU's order. He struck out Trent Caraway, got Aiva Arquette to line out to third, then surrendered a two-out single to Gavin Turley.

Turley stole second, and Wilson Weber worked a six-pitch walk.

Cutts escaped the jam as he struck out AJ Singer to end the frame.

Bottom of the 2nd inning — Louisville 1, Oregon State 0

Aiva Arquette and Canon Reeder both made incredible defensive plays to help Oregon State through a three-up, three-down second inning.

Top of the 2nd inning — Louisville 1, Oregon State 0

AJ Singer and Tyce Peterson drew back-to-back leadoff walks. Jacob Krieg attempted to bunt both runners over, but couldn't get a bunt down and struck out.

Easton Talt followed with a slow roller to the catcher that resulted in an out at first, but moved both runners up.

Brennyn Cutts struck out Canon Reeder swinging to escape the jam.

Bottom of the 1st inning — Louisville 1, Oregon State 0

OSU starter Nelson Keljo struggled out of the gate. He needed 35 pitches to get through the first and threw just 20 strikes.

Alex Alecia greeted Keljo with a leadoff single, then moved up to second on a groundout. Matt Klein followed with a four-pitch walk.

Eddie King Jr. tagged Keljo for an RBI single to left. But the OSU junior struck out Tague Davis to get out of the inning and avoid further damage.

Top of the 1st inning — Oregon State 0, Louisville 0

Trent Caraway led off the game with a single for Oregon State, and then stole second base a few pitches later.

That's all the Beavers got in the first, though, as Louisville starter Brennyn Cutts struck out the side.
