Omaha, Neb. — A mixture of self-inflicted errors and a phenomenal outing from the opposing starting pitcher spelled doom for Oregon State in its second game of the College World Series.
The No. 8 Beavers fell, 6-2, to No. 13 Coastal Carolina in the winnerss bracket at Charles Schwab Field. The defeat now puts OSU in win-or-go-home territory. It will face Louisville on June 17 in an elimination game.

Chanticleers redshirt sophomore starter Jacob Morrison tossed 7⅔ innings, limited OSU to one run and did not walk a batter all evening. He threw 109 pitches, including 79 strikes.
Oregon State’s first run came on Easton Talt’s solo homer in the top of the fourth. It did not score again until Gavin Turley launched a solo shot in the bottom of the ninth.
The Beavers were stung by a spat of miscues in the early innings and they never managed to climb back into contention. Sophomore starter Ethan Kleinschmit surrendered six runs on the day, but only two were earned. AJ Singer and Aiva Arquette each made costly errors.
Colby Thorndyke’s three-run double in the first inning proved to be enough for Coastal Carolina to take control of the game for good.
Kleinschmit found his footing and managed to stretch his outing to 4 ⅔ innings, which preserved OSU’s bullpen.
Oregon State and Louisville will face off at 11 a.m. PT on June 17. The game will air on ESPN.
