“Avatar: Seven Havens” first look reveals the next earthbending Avatar

A Comic-Con panel revealed the first image of the Avatar, her mentor, and her animal companion.

Meet the new Avatar.

Avatar: Seven Havens, the next sequel series in Nickelodeon's kid-friendly animated fantasy franchise, revealed a first look out of a panel at Comic-Con International in San Diego on Thursday.

The image reveals the Avatar who will follow Korra, the waterbending Avatar from The Legend of Korra. This new Avatar, capable of commanding all four natural elements (earth, air, fire, water), was born an earthbender. And in this timeline, she's considered humanity's destroyer, not its savior."

According to a previously released show description, Avatar: Seven Havens "is set in a world shattered by a devastating cataclysm. A young earthbender discovers she's the new Avatar after Korra — but in this dangerous era, that title marks her as humanity's destroyer, not its savior. Hunted by both human and spirit enemies, she and her long-lost twin must uncover their mysterious origins and save the Seven Havens before civilization’s last strongholds collapse."

The first-look image also reveals her mentor, who appears to be wearing airbender colors. And because every Avatar needs an animal companion, we also get that reveal of this unnamed earthbender's four-legged friend.

The initial 26 episodes will be split into two seasons, known as Book 1 and Book 2. Each will consist of 13 half-hour episodes.

Original series creators Michael DiMartino and Bryan Konietzko, who made both Avatar: The Last Airbender and The Legend of Korra, are back, spearheading Avatar: Seven Havens. "When we created the original series, we never imagined we'd still be expanding the world decades later," they said in a previous joint statement. "This new incarnation of the Avatarverse is full of fantasy, mystery, and a whole new cast of amazing characters. Get ready to take another epic and emotional adventure!"
