Nicholas Galitzine teases “Masters of the Universe” with first look at He-Man: 'So proud of the movie we've made'

"Masters of the Universe" is set to hit theaters in summer 2026.

On Sunday, the actor portraying the most powerful man in the universe gave fans a behind-the-scenes glimpse at Masters of the Universe, the live-action film that sees Galitzine as Prince Adam of Eternia and his alter ego, He-Man.

"Well, that’s a wrap on Masters of the Universe," Galitzine captioned the Instagram post. "It has been an honour shouldering the responsibility of playing Adam and He Man. It’s been the role of a lifetime and I put everything into it."

He continued, "There’s not much I can show you, but I am so proud of the movie we’ve made. Thanks to our amazing cast and crew for all your hard work."

The photo shows a shadowed Galitzine from behind, showing off He-Man's Sword of Power, signature loincloth/battle shorts, boots, and gauntlets.

The Idea of You star previously teased that he prepared for filming by changing his diet and lifting weights in an interview with W Magazine. "I'm eating about 4,000 calories a day, but the amount of physical work I'm doing, you end up hungry at the end of the day, which is quite surprising," he said in January.

The upcoming film hails from Bumblebee and Kubo and the Two Strings director Travis Knight, with a script from Chris Butler (Missing Link, ParaNorman) after initial drafts penned by David Callaham and Aaron and Adam Nee.

Along with Galitzine’s He-Man, the film stars  Camila Mendes as Teela; Alison Brie as Evil-Lyn; Jared Leto as Skeletor; Idris Elba as Man-at-Arms; Sam C. Wilson as Trap Jaw; Kojo Attah as Tri-Klops; Hafthor Bjornsson as Goat Man; and Jóhannes Haukur Jóhannesson as Malcolm/Fisto.

The long-gestating project was previously set to star To All the Boys I've Loved Before actor Noah Centineo as He-Man, before he was replaced by Kyle Allen when the project moved to Netflix in 2022. In the wake of Mattel's massive success with Barbie, Masters of the Universe is now set at Amazon MGM Studios, with Galitzine wielding the Power Sword.

Mattel's Masters of the Universe franchise originally began as a toy line in 1982, before launching the animated series He-Man and the Masters of the Universe a few years later. The story follows protagonist Prince Adam, who can transform himself into the mighty hero He-Man by raising his Power Sword and invoking the words "By the power of Grayskull!" With his sword, superhuman strength, and loyal friends, He-Man defends Eternia and the secrets of Castle Grayskull from the forces of the evil sorcerer Skeletor.

Following the success of the original animated series, Prince Adam/He-Man was portrayed by Dolph Lundgren in the 1987 live-action film Masters of the Universe. The character's twin sister, She-Ra, was later the focus of the popular Netflix animated series, She-Ra and the Princesses of Power, which ran from 2018 to 2020. The prince would later get his own series, Masters of the Universe: Revelation, a Kevin Smith produced Netflix original that spans three seasons.
