Player rating as Lions win series in most dramatic style

A Hugo Keenan try capped off one of the best Test matches in recent memory as the British and Irish Lions overcame what at one point was an 18-point deficit to beat Australia 29-26 and secure the Test series.

Joe Schmidt had the perfect playbook in the first half as Australia were able to carve up the Lions off the back of huge collision from Will Skelton and Rob Valentini. However the Lions never gave up and constantly fought their way back to the game.

Tries from Dan Sheehan, Tom Curry, Huw Jones and Tadhg Beirne brought the Lions to within two points and as it looked like the Wallabies would seal the game, the Lions conjured up a huge set of phases as the built their way up the pitch into the Aussie 22. From there Hugo Keenan got the ball out wide and was able to dive over with the last act to win it all.

Substitutes 10

The subs won this game. When the starters clawed their way back into the match it was the substitutes that put them over the top. Every single one of them from Genge, Kelleher, Stuart, Ryan, Morgan, Farrell and Kinghorn all stepped up when they came on and they were instrumental in that final play to win the series.

Andy Farrell 9

Probably not as easy as many would’ve expected but Andy Farrell is a Lions’ Test Series winner. His substitutes were crucial in winning and the perseverance they showed is testament to the culture Farrell was able to cultivate in this squad.
