3-year-old taken by non-custodial father found safe

MT. JULIET, Tenn. (WSMV) - Update: Mt. Juliet Police reported that the 3-year-old taken by his non-custodial father on Saturday was found safe.

The child was found at a home in Mt. Juliet, while the father, Andrew Jones, was stopped by police in DeKalb County.

Earlier: The Mt. Juliet Police Department is searching for a 3-year-old they say was taken by his non-custodial father.

The father, 21-year-old Landon Andrew Jones of Lebanon, reportedly took the child after an argument with the 3-year-old’s mother.

Officers responded to Academy Sports at 549 Pleasant Grove Road for reports of a call regarding an altercation between the mother and Jones.

MJPD said during the argument, the mother tried to get the 3-year-old child from Jones car, but the non-custodial father sped away with the kid.

Officers with the Metro Nashville Police Department tried to do a welfare check on the child, but Jones fled from them. He has not been captured.

MJPD said Jones also reportedly stole a handgun from a family member in Nashville on Saturday.

Jones is described as having brown eyes and brown hair. He is 5′9″ tall and weighs around 150 pounds. He was last seen wearing a light camo-colored t-shirt and khaki shorts.

Police said Jones is believed to be driving a dark orange or maroon 2020 Dodge Charger. The car has dark tinted windows, black wheels and Tenn. license plate 708BNXS.
