Who was the Phoenix Suns' all-time best point guard? Vote in our poll
It’s probably a given that most Phoenix Suns fans would rate the past two seasons major disappointments. A question that has hovered over the team during this period was how much the absence of a true starting point guard hurt them.
As the Suns have continued to rebuild their roster for 2025-26 after the departure of Kevin Durant and Bradley Beal, the point guard question still lingers. The Suns re-signed Collin Gillespie and acquired Jared Butler and former Sun Jordan Goodwin to help bolster the position, but it remains to be seen whether anyone will emerge to own the position, which Devin Booker has often handled the past two years, though shooting guard is his more natural position.
The situation got us thinking about some of the great point guards in Phoenix Suns history. There were more than a few, but five in particular stood out. We’d like to know who you think was the best Suns' point guard in team history. Vote in our poll below for one of our five choices as the all-time best (listed alphabetically). You can also vote ''someone else'' if you don't agree with any choice. The poll will remain open until July 31 at 5 p.m. (Print readers can find the poll online at azcentral.com/sports/suns-nba).

Paul Westphal (1975-80; '83-84). Career per-game averages with Phoenix: 20.6 points, 2.2 rebounds, 5.2 assists, 1.6 steals; 30.6 minutes. Highlights with Phoenix: Westphal played the position at a time when the term ''point guard'' wasn't as widely used, but no doubt he orchestrated the Phoenix offense during the late 1970s, including during the 1976 NBA finals. His famous timeout vs. the Celtics in Game 5, which caused a technical but moved the ball to halfcourt, allowed Garfield Heard to hit the ''shot heard 'round the world,'' one of the most famous plays in NBA history. With the Suns, Westphal was a three-time All-Star (1977, 1979, 1980) and a three-time All-NBA First Team selection (1977, 1979, 1980).
