Billionaire AI Co-Founder Lucy Guo Pays Nearly $30 Million for L.A. Spec House

Tech entrepreneur Lucy Guo, 30, has been called the world’s youngest self-made woman billionaire. Now, she’s putting some of her earnings into real estate.

Guo has paid $29.5 million for a newly constructed mansion in L.A.’s Hollywood Hills, according to people familiar with the transaction. The price represents a significant discount from the $43 million the developer asked for the property when it first went on the market in January 2024, according to listings website Zillow. It has since undergone numerous price cuts and been listed with several different agents.

The house was developed by a limited liability company with ties to the Australian developer Caydon Property Group, property records show.

The developer and Guo couldn’t be reached for comment.

Guo, who grew up in the San Francisco Bay Area, is a co-founder of Scale AI, an artificial-intelligence startup now valued at more than $29 billion. She left that company in 2018 amid disagreements with her co-founder, Alexandr Wang, and now runs Passes, a competitor to the adult creator network OnlyFans. Guo still has an equity stake in Scale AI; Forbes estimates her net worth at around $1.3 billion.

The developer bought the land for the house, in the Bird Streets above the Sunset Strip, for $5.4 million in 2018, records show. The contemporary home has a cantilevered glass living room that appears to float above the city, according to the listing. Outside, there is a deck with a sunken fire pit, an infinity pool, extensive gardens and a citrus grove.

The house has a 4,000-square-foot deck.

A family and media room has a bar.

The infinity pool is about 175 feet long.

Market Snapshot

L.A.’s high-end real-estate market has been hobbled over the past year by the L.A. fires, outward migration to lower-tax states, and broader economic uncertainty. Many of the most recent high-end sales have closed at significant discounts from their original asking prices.

The Guo property was listed by Ginger Glass and Craig Lotzof of Compass. Guo was represented by Barron N. Hilton of Hilton Hilton and his wife and colleague, Tessa Hilton.
