Hollywood was surprised when Aaron Phypers filed for divorce from his wife, actress Denise Richards. But as it turns out, not everything was that great behind the curtains of their Malibu home.

Married since 2018

The businessman and the actress got married in 2018. They have no children together. Generally, they seemed to be a well-matched couple and there were no signs of any discontent.

However, Aaron Phypers cited "irreconcilable differences" in his divorce petition, as confirmed by Fox News after obtaining court documents.

Among the several causes for the divorce, media outlets have suggested that Denise Richards' increasingly lucrative job had something to do with it.

In March 2025, Denise Richards said on her reality show, 'Denise Richards & Her Wild Things,' that Aaron Phypers was instrumental to her content creation for the well-known adult website.

Pending the court ruling, it appears that Denise Richards' new success on the online platform has been a source of discontent in the marriage.

Meanwhile, another court order has been given

On July 16, People magazine reports, Denise Richards got a temporary restraining order against her soon-to-be ex-husband. She claimed to be afraid of violent behavior by Phypers, the documents read by People state.

'Threatened to kill me'

Richards alleged in the court documents that Phypers "repeatedly abused" her throughout their marriage. She said he "threatened to kill me and himself and the police" if she reported the violence, People cites from the legal papers.
