Hot August Nights is undoubtedly one of the big events for the area, bringing a lot of classic cars and visitors to Reno-Sparks.

For locals, however, it also means road closures — including streets that many typically use for their daily commute.

Here is a roundup of all street closures for Reno and Sparks for Hot August Nights this year.

Hot August Nights street closures for Reno

Most street closures in Reno are concentrated in and around downtown

Besides ongoing hotel-casino events and downtown cruises, the University of Nevada, Reno, is also serving as this year’s main Hot August Nights location while the Grand Sierra Resort starts construction on its new arena.

Note that the downtown Reno area also has street closures due to construction work in addition to Hot August Nights. Here is a list of all downtown Reno street closures from Hot August Nights, which are in effect through the weekend, according to the city of Reno.

Virginia Street and Sierra Street: Closed from Liberty to Sixth Street.
Fifth Street and Fourth Street: Closed from West Street to Lake Street and from Vine Street to Ralston.
Third Street, Commercial Row, Second Street and First Street: Closed from West Street to University Way.
Mill Street, State Street, Pine Street and Ryland Street: Closed at Center Street
Court Street: Closed from Virginia Street to Rainbow Street.
Washington Street: Closed from Fourth Street to Fifth Street.

The Arlington Bridges project also is impeding downtown traffic, closing a commonly used route between the north and south sides of the Truckee.

Like Reno, Hot August Nights street closures in Sparks are concentrated at its downtown core. Here are all the streets that will be closed in Sparks for Hot August Nights.

Victorian Avenue: Closed from Pyramid Highway to Victorian Plaza Circle’s west side.
Victorian Plaza Circle: Closed in the east from Avenue of the Oaks to Nugget Avenue.
Avenue of the Oaks: Closed in front of the Galaxy Theater, one block east and one block west.
10th Street: Closed from south of Avenue of the Oaks from the alleyway to Victorian Avenue.
