Boardwalk at The Port District completed connecting Rivergate Park to St. Lucie River.
The Boardwalk at The Port District opened on Aug. 8, giving visitors access to over three-quarters of a mile from Rivergate Park to the preservation tract along the North Fork of St. Lucie River.
The 4,300-foot-long boardwalk was extended and repaired from Hurricane Milton damage last year. You can access the boardwalk from Veteran’s Memorial Park or The Event Lawn at the Port, and see it on Visit St. Lucie's live web camera.
Reopening it to the public marks "a significant enhancement to riverfront accessibility, recreation and connectivity in the heart of the city," according to a news release from the city of Port St. Lucie.
“We are committed to creating accessible, welcoming public spaces that bring people together,” Port St. Lucie Mayor Shannon Martin said in a news release. “These are places where neighbors can connect, families can enjoy nature, and everyone can feel a sense of belonging right in the heart of our city. It’s especially meaningful to see this final piece put in place — connecting our residents directly to the river in a way that’s both beautiful and lasting.”
