Traveller reveals trick to get through airport security fast

The airport security queue can fill even the most experienced traveller with dread, promising long waits and random bag checks – it can feel like a nightmare. But one savvy traveller, 33-year-old Elaine Poon, has revealed a little-known hack that could help other passengers whiz through in less than one minute. She regularly shares tips on how to jet across the globe for less on her social media, @travelainewithme.

In a TikTok video, which attracted 360,000 views, Elaine demonstrates her trick at Stansted Airport. The camera shows the traveller heading towards the security gates as she says: 'When you're going through security, everyone usually enters through here.' She then films the departure sign, with electronic gates underneath to scan boarding passes.

'Instead, turn right and walk straight through here,' Elaine adds, panning the camera to show a fast track sign. She says: 'A lot of people think that this is only for fast track, so no one goes to this side. 'But as you can see, this whole middle section is free for us to go through.

'This is crazy – like look at the queue on the other side.' The video shows a busy line of people waiting for their turn at the security scanners as Elaine adds, 'We just skip all of that and go straight through to the front.' She captioned her video: 'If you're in London & flying Ryanair, majority of the time it'll be from Stansted airport.

'It doesn't matter what time of the day it is (this was filmed at 5am), it will most likely be busy. 'Next time you're there, save yourself from the long queues, and head straight to the right side.' Elaine's video attracted hordes of comments from other passengers eager to try the trick.

Someone commented: 'Only flown through Stansted once Will definitely use this hack next time I fly thank you!!' 'Is this actually real?!!????? I’m going tomorrow is it actually free???' one excited traveller asked. 'I'm going this year. I need to tell my mum about these hacks,' another added.

While one person put the hack to the test and said: 'Thank you, just went through and it was super quick, no queue at all.' 'I don't get why people say this is a hack people have been doing this for years,' another savvy traveller chimed in.
