The 11 Biggest Revelations from With Love, Meghan Season 2

The second season of Meghan Markle’s Netflix show, With Love, Meghan, is now streaming. While the new episodes focus on Meghan’s cooking, hostessing, and other entertaining tips, there are also brief moments when she talks about her life and preferences. For example: Her favorite roses, viewers learn, are a variety named after Pope John Paul II (a white hybrid tea rose, if you were wondering), or the reason she’s avoided making sourdough: because of how time-intensive it is.

The Duchess of Sussex never mentions her royal life, but hints at it throughout the season. At one point, Chrissy Teigen and Meghan joke about Meghan having a child named Honsworth. “By the way if I could have kept a secret like that, I mean, impressive,” she says, in a nod to the intense media attention that she’s experienced since beginning to date Prince Harry.

Below, the the major revelations shared in the eight episodes of With Love, Meghan season two:

While Prince Harry does not appear in the second season of With Love, Meghan, he does come up a few times over the eight episodes. Notably, in episode 3, Meghan and Tan France are speaking about their husbands and the start of their relationships. “I can’t help but ask personal questions, I’m known for it,” Tan says to Meghan. “Was there a moment you were like, ‘I know that I love this guy?’”

Meghan replies, “Yes. That was our third date.” When Tan expresses surprise that they fell in love on just their third outing, she continues, “We met in Botswana, and we camped for five days together… You really get to know somebody when you’re in a tent together, and there’s like ‘What is that outside the tent? That’s an elephant? Are we going to be safe?’”

After she recounts their Botswana date, Tan asks if Meghan said “I love you” first or Harry did, and she says, “He told me.”

While this detail about the Sussexes’ courtship had previously been reported in Omid Scobie and Carolyn Durand’s book Finding Freedom, this episode of With Love, Meghan, marks an official confirmation.

Also in the third episode, Meghan and Tan are discussing their children. “My sweet little boy,” she says of her son, Archie. “He’s like the most tender, sweet, adorable child of all time.” Tan replies, “My eldest is the most tender. Did you always want children?”

Meghan says, “Oh, I always wanted to be a mom. I’d save my allowance and I’d go to Kmart and buy a real diaper bag—I was like, ‘I don’t want the kid version, I don’t want the pretend version of it. I want a real diaper bag that a mom would have to take care of my doll. Like, I just I always wanted to be a mom. I love it. It’s better than I even expected.”

3. Meghan shares rare insights (and pictures!) of her and Harry’s royal wedding dinner.

Clare Smyth, the chef for Harry and Meghan’s royal wedding reception in 2018, serves as the guest in the sixth episode of this season. Throughout her appearance, Clare and Meghan speak about the wedding, including how the wedding menu had a map on where everything was sourced. “We really wanted to appreciate where every ingredient was coming from,” Meghan says.

Meghan compliments Clare, saying, “That was the most delicious meal, everyone still talks about it.” And they discuss the fried chicken served at the afterparty, which is now part of the secret, off-menu at Core, Clare’s restaurant. “I love that we created something off-menu… We’re done, if that’s my claim to fame, I’m thrilled.”

Clare also reminisces when she cooked an anniversary dinner for Harry and Meghan (It’s unclear which anniversary, but likely their first, as they were living in the U.S. for their second).

4. Meghan talks about her children, Prince Archie and Princess Lili.

Meghan’s two children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet, came up more in the first season, but there were still a few sweet mentions of them in the second season, including:

  • In episode two, she tells Chrissy Teigen, “My kids really want a cat. Really want a cat.”
  • In episode three, Meghan reveals her family’s breakfast rituals, saying, “I make hot breakfast most mornings for the kids and my husband.” Breakfast in their house is usually fried eggs or pancakes, but when she makes pancakes, she says “I like to do surprise pancakes,” referring to adding ground flax seeds or chia seeds into the batter. “Lili will ask me, ‘Can I have chia seeds? I want it to have freckles!”
  • In that same scene, Meghan talks about carefully plating her kids’ breakfast food, and says, “Archie will say, ‘Oh mama, that looks beautiful!’”
  • Lili loves the color pink, Meghan reveals in the third episode. “There’s a lot of pink in my house!” she tells Tan.

Meghan also shared that she struggles to be away from her children for long stretches. “The longest I went without being around our kids was almost three weeks,” she says. “I was… not well.” While Meghan doesn’t reveal when this was, it was likely September 2022, when she and Harry traveled to the UK for philanthropic engagements then unexpectedly had to extend their time in the country when Queen Elizabeth passed away.

Meghan on Deal or No Deal.

Chrissy Teigen and Meghan reminisce on their time on Deal or No Deal 20 years ago acknowledging, “how far we’ve come.”

“I was thinking about how many moons ago we crossed paths,” Meghan says. “That was past life. That was good old Deal or No Deal.” Chrissy replies, “I feel like our lives have had so many chapters and that one being a really important, funny one.” She continues, “I remember being basically a backup girl… The alternate! Then becoming the banker.”

Meghan recounts, “I remember all having to stand in line to get our lashes put on, like in a row.” Chrissy, agreeing, says, “I do remember coming off stage one day and they held like a Ziploc bag open and we all took off our eyelashes and put ‘em in there. I’m like, ‘Are these for tomorrow?’ And we’d all just close our eyes. Oh my Lord… what a time though.” Meghan chimes in, saying, “I was just so happy to have health insurance. Like, I get health insurance with this job!”

In the fourth episode, Meghan makes Samin Nosrat a roast chicken. “This is a by-heart recipe,” she says. “It’s a classic, and it’s nourishing, and I have done it so many times that now I can do it with my eyes closed.”

Meghan continues, “I roasted a chicken the night my husband proposed to me. Roast chicken is what we served at our wedding. I make it at least once a week.” She adds, “I will say when I made a roast chicken for my now-husband, I was still having a lot of challenges with the conversion of Celsius and Fahrenheit. I made a horrible chicken that night. I mean, truly terrible. So the point is, you can make a terrible chicken, and someone’ll still appreciate the thought, but I’m going to show you how to make a not-so-terrible chicken.”

7. Meghan always packs framed photos of her family to put on her nightstand during trips.

The seventh episode sees Meghan leaving Montecito for a night in Los Angeles with her friend Heather Dorak, so it begins with the duchess packing a bag. She lays out all her clothes before she packs, notably “uniform” and “staples” and “things you can mix and match.” As she puts things into packing cubes, Meghan adds, “a little preparedness goes a long way.”

The things that “bring her joy” when she packs include a baseball cap—she choses a hat she made for Prince Harry’s 40th birthday party, that says PH40 on it—and framed photos of her family. “I just went on a girls’ trip recently. My girlfriends were like, ‘My god, that’s so sweet, you keep it by the side of your bed!’ Yeah, you could look at your phone… I don’t know, I’m sentimental in that way.”

8. Meghan shares a surprising reason why she always wears neutral clothing.

Meghan’s style is a highlight of the show, and over the course of the eight episodes this season, she shares a few insight about her wardrobe. In episode four, she tells Samin, “Existentially I am a neutral person,” referencing her penchant for cream, beige, black, and brown ensembles. And in episode seven, when she’s packing, she says, “I normally dress monochromatically, not because I think it’s the most stylish thing in the world, but because I think it’s really easy.”

9. She was an anxious auditioning actor.

Meghan as Rachel Zane on Suits.

Throughout the season, Meghan reminisces on her time she spent as a working actress. “I would get so nervous, I would always get blotchy on my chest. So then I started auditioning in turtlenecks only. I was like, ‘Nothing to see here! I’m absolutely fine. Completely comfortable,’” she tells Chrissy Teigen of auditioning

In the seventh episode, Meghan also says, “When I was an auditioning actor, I’d get really nervous. And one time my acting coach said to me, ‘If you’re prepared, there’s no reason to be nervous.’”

And, she and Tan make mini apple pies in the third episode, a food strongly rooted in nostalgia for the duchess. “My love of a little handheld apple pie runs deep. It is because when I was an auditioning actor, if I thought I did really well at an audition, most actresses would probably think to go, ‘I went on an audition, I’m gonna go to the gym…’ Nope! I was like, ‘I went on an audition. That went so well, I’m going to treat myself with a drive-through apple pie.’ So I’d go to the drive-through at McDonald’s and buy myself an apple pie.”

10. She was rush chair for Kappa Kappa Gamma in college.

While on the show, Chrissy opens up to Meghan about working at Del Sol, a color-changing T-shirt shop. “My only experience of something similar,” Meghan replies, “I was rush chair for my sorority. So I was like [changing her voice], ‘Hi, welcome to Kappa.’ ‘Hi, welcome to Kappa.’ ‘Hi, how are you? Come on through!’ Just like that greeting, hostess vibe.”

Meghan was in Kappa Kappa Gamma at Northwestern University. Earlier this year on her “Confessions of a Female Founder” podcast, she told Kadi Lee about living in Kappa and doing her hair. “It kind of reminds me of when I was at Northwestern, and I moved into Kappa, our sorority there. I don’t even think they made plug-in flat irons at the time. They couldn’t! If they did, I didn't know where they were, because I had the little stove, with the flat iron that would go in, have a paper towel on the side. I mean, probably half the people listening to this are going, ‘What is she talking about?’ Or you’d pull it out, it would have the little scorch marks. And I remember most of the girls in the sorority who were not Black say, ‘What’s that smell? Is hair burning?’ And it was just what you would do to figure out how to grapple with this texture of hair.”
