Ranking every Champions League winner since the inception in 1992
Final is fast approaching

The Champions League final between Inter Milan and PSG is quickly approaching, so let's rank each Champions League winner since the rebranding in 1992.
14: Marseille (1)

Marseille was the first team to win the newly named UEFA Champions League in 1993, beating AC Milan 1-0 in the final. Since then, the French club hasn't made it back to the final, and the best they've done since is reach the quarterfinals in 2012.
12: Ajax (1)

A young Patrick Kluivert scored the winning goal for Ajax in the 1995 final against AC Milan, before losing to Juventus on penalties in the 1996 final. They reached the semifinals in 1997 but didn't return to that stage of the competition until 2019 under Erik ten Hag.
11: Manchester City (1)

Manchester City is new to this Champions League-chasing and picked up their first title in 2023, beating Inter Milan thanks to Rodri's strike. The 'Citizens' lost in the final to Chelsea in 2021 and had a seven-year streak (2018-2024) of at least reaching the quarterfinal stages.
10: Inter Milan (1)

The 2025 finalists, Inter Milan, hope to add another Champions League to their success in 2010, when they beat Bayern Munich 2-0 thanks to a brace from Diego Milito. This will be Inter Milan's third final since the rebranding, losing to Man City in 2023.
9: Borussia Dortmund (1)

The 2024 fairytale finalists, Borussia Dortmund, won their only title in 1997, convincingly beating Juventus 3-1. Since then, Dortmund has played in two Champions League finals, one semifinal, and three quarterfinals. They played Bayern Munich and Real Madrid in those two finals.
8: Juventus (1)

Juventus is the best-ranked team on this list to win one Champions League title because we aren't sure how they have only won one. They beat Ajax in 1996 to secure the title but have lost five Champions League finals after that, two of which came against Real Madrid.
7: Chelsea (2)

The first team in the ranking to win multiple Champions League titles is Chelsea, beating Bayern Munich on penalties in 2012 and Manchester City 1-0 in 2021. The 'Blues' played the next team on this list in the 2008 final but lost on penalties due to a John Terry slip.
5: Liverpool (2)

Liverpool came from 3-0 down to beat AC Milan on penalties in the 2005 'Miracle of Istanbul' and secured a 2-0 win over Tottenham in 2019 to win their second Champions League since the rebranding. They have also lost in three finals, with two coming against Real Madrid in 2018 and 2022.
4: AC Milan (3)

Although they fell off in recent times, reaching the semifinals once since 2007, AC Milan has won three Champions League trophies since the rebranding in 1992, beating Barcelona, Juventus, and Liverpool. Milan has also lost three finals, losing two of three consecutive finals visits between 1993 and 1995.
3: Bayern Munich (3)

German powerhouses Bayern Munich have also won three Champions League titles but rank higher than Milan due to their consistency in the competition. They beat Valencia in 2001, Dortmund in 2013, and PSG in 2020. Like Milan, they have lost three finals but reached at least the quarterfinals on over 20 occasions since 1992.
2: Barcelona (4)

Barcelona were fortunate to win their first title in 2006, but the following three were achievements that show how incredible Pep Guardiola was in transforming the team to a 'Tiki-Taka' style of play and the dominance of Lionel Messi, the GOAT of football. They beat Arsenal in 2006, Manchester United twice, and finally Juventus in 2015.
1: Real Madrid (9)

The clear standout and the most incredible team in European football history is Real Madrid, securing nine titles since the rebranding in 1992 and securing back-to-back-to-back titles between 2016 and 2018. They are the most recent winners of the Champions League, beating Dortmund 2-0.
