Pop artist Demi Lovato affirmed their non-binary gender identity on X in the spring of 2021, announcing that the pronouns "they/them" describe them best. The announcement came after more than a year and a half of self-examination. They had nearly lost their life to a drug overdose and had struggled for several years with the psychological problems of bulimia and addiction.
