Airline announces four new nonstop destinations out of Wilmington
An affordable airline carrier is adding four new routes to its options out of Wilmington International Airport.
Avelo Airlines will provide nonstop service to Houston, Washington, D.C., Detroit and Long Island, New York, the company announced in a news release Wednesday.
"We continue to inspire travel by growing our service in Wilmington with the start of these four new routes, offering our customers even more choices," Avelo founder and CEO Andrew Levy said. "As the only airline currently offering nonstop service to these destinations from ILM, we are making it more convenient and affordable for our Wilmington-area customers to enjoy 15 popular vacation destinations, while making it easier for out-of-state visitors to experience the best of Coastal North Carolina."

About Avelo Airlines
Avelo has provided flights out of ILM since 2022. The company opened a base in Wilmington on April 3. It is the first airline carrier to have a base at ILM and marks the company's eighth base. The expansion is expected to create up to 50 new jobs.
Gov. Josh Stein attended the opening ceremony, applauding the Avelo's contribution to the state's economy.
"As our state continues to grow, we're grateful that Avelo is growing with us across our beautiful land," Stein said. "Avelo's investment here is going to help even more North Carolinians take flight, for that we're grateful."
