New England has so many beautiful beach towns, but some rise above the rest, according to Boston.com readers.

Bar Harbor, Maine was recently named among the most beautiful beach towns in the world by Travel + Leisure, so we asked readers for their picks for most gorgeous beach town in the region and they praised destinations across Massachusetts, New Hampshire, and Rhode Island.

Nantucket

About Nantucket’s Cisco Beach, Edward M. from Nantucket wrote, “The finest sand, surf, fishing, perfect sunset every evening and can park right on the edge of the beach, and smell the clean salt water, no finer place on Earth, trust me on that.”

Falmouth

Orleans

Jim L. from Pennsylvania wrote about Hampton, “The boardwalk, the smells of Junkins candy kisses and caramel corn [no longer in business], choice of two arcades, the band concerts at the half shell and climbing the rocks at the beach and finding starfish with my sister. Those memories still live with me after all these years.”

“Hampton has it all: music venues; beach activities for all, including a playground; all kinds of restaurants; showers, lockers, lots of parking. And the people and police are very friendly,” wrote GeeGee from Hampton.

Narragansett, R.I.
