Shreveport-made horror film ‘The Twin’ to have red carpet premiere at The Strand Theatre

SHREVEPORT, La. (KSLA) - Local filmmakers for the new horror movie “The Twin” are hosting a screening and Q&A in Shreveport, where the film was made.

On July 10, from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m., the historic Strand Theatre will be hosting a red carpet premiere for the horror film, The Twin, a film that was born in the city of Shreveport.

The Twin screenplay was co-written by J.C. Doler, Paul Petersen, and is based on a story by Doler, Taylor Bracewell, and Chris Alan Evans. It is inspired by Irish folklore.

The red carpet premiere of the Shreveport-made horror movie, The Twin, will happen at The Strand Theatre.

The film was born as a top 20 finalist at the 2016 Louisiana Film Prize. Originally titled Hangman, the project has grown into a feature that exemplifies Shreveport’s rebirth as a place for independent film to flourish again.

“After such a long journey, I’m incredibly proud to finally share The Twin with horror audiences everywhere,” shared Doler. “It’s a story about the things we try to bury that somehow find a way to dig themselves out.”

The Twin had its festival premiere at the 2024 Austin Film Festival and won the Audience Award for Best Dark Matters Feature. The film stars Logan Donovan (Colony, Magnum P.I.), Robert Longstreet (Midnight Mass, The Haunting of Hill House), and Aleksa Palladino (Boardwalk Empire, The Penguin) and was entirely shot in Louisiana with a team of Shreveport local and regional filmmakers.

Logan Donovan produced the film alongside Louisiana-based filmmakers Alexander Jeffery, Paul Petersen, Brittany Fallow, Chris Alan Evans, Lindsey Pellette (makeup department head), and J.C. Doler.

Key crew: Cinematographer Joel Froome (A Chance Encounter), production designer Reece Roark (#ChadGetsTheAxe), costume designer Taylor Bracewell (Candyland), casting director Steven Tylor O’Connor (Hidden Canyons), and composer Zviad Mgebry (Vegetable Garden in the Conflict Zone).

“Watching this story evolve from a Louisiana Film Prize short back in 2016 to a Strand Theatre premiere is proof that Shreveport’s creative spark is stronger than ever,” said producer Alexander Jeffery. “The Twin shows that independent filmmakers can still dream big, hire local, and bring world-class cinema to life right here in northwest Louisiana.”
