Where are the coolest places to beat the summer heat in the Blue Water Area?

When summer hits the Blue Water Area, locals and visitors alike can head to the nearest splash pad or public pool to cool down.

From Croswell to St. Clair, communities across the region offer fun, affordable ways to beat the heat. With new splash pads, reopened pools and lakefront options, here’s a roundup of the best spots to soak up summer.

Port Huron, St. Clair, Marysville, Goodells, Algonac and Clay Township, Croswell, Sandusky, Marlette

Port Huron

  • McMorran Plaza splash pad: 701 McMorran Blvd. Free. Opens the Friday before Memorial Day, open dawn until dusk.
  • Gratiot Park splash pad: 2538 Gratiot Ave. Free. Open afternoons.
  • Knox Park splash pad: 2898 26th St. Free. Opens the Friday before Memorial Day, open dawn until dusk.
  • Lakeside Park splash pad: 3670 Gratiot Ave. Admission is free for Port Huron, Fort Gratiot and Port Huron Township residents, $5 for residents of St. Clair County and $30 for residents outside of St. Clair County. Operates daily from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.
  • Sanborn Pool: 1919 Sanborn St. Admission is free for city of Port Huron residents and $2 for nonresidents. Open from June 20 to Aug. 10, Saturdays and Sundays, 2-6:45 p.m.
  • Court Street Pool: 2025 Court St. Admission is free for Port Huron city residents and $2 for nonresidents. Open from June 19 to Aug. 15, Thursdays-Sundays, 2-6:45 p.m.
  • YMCA in Port Huron: 1525 Third St. Non-members can purchase a $10 day pass. Open swim hours vary.

St. Clair

  • Klecha Park's new splash pad: 1456 Goffe St. Free. Hours are from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.
  • St. Clair Community Pool: 715 Orchard St. Admission is $2 and children 4 years old and younger get in free. Opens on June 14, 1-6 p.m.

Marysville

  • Marysville City Park splash pad: 801 E. Huron Blvd. Free. Open 9 a.m. to 8 p.m.

Goodells

  • Goodells County Park splash pad: 8264 County Park Drive. Free. Opens Memorial Day, open daily 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.

Algonac and Clay Township

  • Algonac Community Pool: 1833 Michigan St. Price and opening date to be announced.
  • Clay Township splash pad: 4768 Pointe Tremble Road. Free. Open daily 6 a.m. to 9 p.m. 

Croswell

  • Riverbend Park splash pad: Maple Street. Free. Open through the summer daily, 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.

Sandusky

  • Doerr Field splash pad: West Speaker Street. Free. Opens Memorial Day, daily 11-6 p.m.

Marlette

  • Marlette Community Pool: 3 blocks East of Van Dyke (M-53) on Chard Street. Price and hours to be announced. Fridays will be free from 1 to 8 p.m.
