The Conner Fire has now grown to an estimated 2,000 acres with 0% containment. It is being managed under unified command between East Fork Fire Protection District and the Bureau of Land Management.

Officials said the fire intensified in the afternoon after moving out of the 2020 Numbers Fire burn scar and into areas with more unburned fuels, prompting faster spread and more extreme fire behavior.

High winds — up to 45 mph — and low humidity are creating difficult firefighting conditions, BLM said. Due to gusty winds, air tankers were grounded in the afternoon of June 20.
