Favorite South Park brunch spot expands to Barrio Logan

SAN DIEGO (FOX 5/KUSI) — Just in time of its 15th anniversary, the beloved South Park eatery, Café Madeleine, is set to open a new location in the heart of Barrio Logan.

The new concept, called “Madeleine,” will be the restaurant’s third in the city of San Diego, joining another in North Park.

While it will hold true to the character of the original locations, the restaurants’ owner says the new concept will bring something “refreshingly new to the table” by adding a Latin flair to their menu offerings, reflective of the spirit of Barrio Logan.

“Barrio Logan has a rich history, is vibrant, and colorful, the community reminds me of the diverse neighborhood I grew up in Los Angeles,” said Christine Perez, owner of Café Madeleine. “With Madeleine, I wanted to build on what we do great, breakfast, crepes, paninis and use ingredients my family and I use at home.”

The new menu items include a serrano ham eggs benedict, crepa con rajas and tortillas espanola plus sangria spritzers. Guests will also be able to get other favorites of Café Madeleine, like their classic pastries and French brunch dishes.

The new location at 1776 National Ave. officially opens to the public on Wednesday, June 25. People can stop by anytime between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. for the grand opening celebrations, featuring complimentary bites, live music from local artists, exclusive giveaways and more.
