The first round of the NBA draft has come and gone and as expected, the Detroit Pistons have not made a pick.

The Pistons did not have a first-round pick this year as part of a trade during the 2020 NBA Draft when they acquired Isaiah Stewart, so barring a trade, they were going to be sitting out Day 1, and that's exactly what happened.

The good news for the Pistons is they have a relatively early pick in the second round and despite what president of basketball operations Trajan Langdon said about the second round not having the same amount of talent, there are still good fits on the board.

Here are players that are being connected to the Pistons at pick No. 37 in the latest rounds of mock drafts:

ESPN: SG Chaz Lanier, Tennessee

What they said: "A true late bloomer who averaged 3.7 points per game over his first three collegiate seasons, Lanier turned a corner with his jumper as an upperclassman to complement his solid size, frame and 6-foot-9 wingspan. He is not much of a ball handler and will need to use his tools better defensively, but he has a clear niche to fill with the way he can space the floor and shoot off screens."  Jonathan Givony, ESPN.

What they said: Lanier is one of the draft’s premier shooters, having taken more shots off screens this year than any player in college basketball and converting them at a solid clip. Overall, Lanier averaged 18 points per game while drilling 40 percent of his 3s last season at Tennessee and is seen as a very real potential floor spacer at the NBA level. He has a real shot at being a guaranteed deal." – Sam Vecenie, The Athletic.

What they said: "Detroit adds another weapon to surround Cade Cunningham with in the backcourt. Brea hit 43.5% of his 3-pointers last season with Kentucky and rated in the 96th percentile on catch-and-shoot opportunities." – Kyle Boone, CBS Sports

On3: Lanier

Chaz Lanier talks to the media during the 2025 NBA Draft Combine at Marriott Marquis Chicago, May 14, 2025 in Chicago.

What they said: "Chaz Lanier plays a different position and possesses a different skillset, but from the day he announced his commitment to Tennessee, he insured that he would hear Dalton Knecht comparisons for the next year. The No. 4 prospect to enter the transfer portal this offseason, according to On3’s Industry Rankings, Lanier was tabbed by head coach Rick Barnes to lead the offense." – James Fletcher III.
