Detroit Pistons re-sign Paul Reed to two-year, $11 million deal in NBA free agency
According to a source who could not speak because the contract isn't official, the second year of the deal is non-guaranteed. It isn't yet clear if the team is signing Reed using their bi-annual exception, which allows for a two-year deal starting at up to $5.1 million, or through another cap method.

The Pistons initially projected they would bring back last year's veterans — Malik Beasley, Tim Hardaway Jr. and Dennis Schröder in addition to Reed. However, a Sunday report that Beasley is being investigated in a gambling probe could force them to look at Plan B options.
Either way, Reed's deal should not have any major impact on their big-picture plans.
Reed joined the Pistons last year after spending the first four years of his career with the Philadelphia 76ers and averaged 4.1 points and 2.7 rebounds in 45 games. He didn't start any games, but was a valuable backup big man and was forced into action when Isaiah Stewart was injured in the playoffs.
