Jersey Shore Traffic Watch: Crash slows traffic on Garden State Parkway
The last weekend in June is already upon us and the first one since most public schools in the state and elsewhere have emptied out for the summer recess.
After the blistering heat of earlier this week, we can expect big crowds of visitors to the Shore looking to cool off and enjoy the beach — assuming Mother Nature cooperates. Of course, that translates into a lot of traffic.
Check here for the latest updates from state and local authorities throughout the day and evening on what highways and byways to avoid and to find out how long you can expect to be stuck in the event you are unable to avoid such roadways.

Traffic clogs on Pine Street, just east of Route 9 traffic in Lakewood Monday morning, June 23, 2025. Route 9 was closed between Pine Street and Central Avenue because of an overturned fuel truck.
National Weather Service issues Coastal Flood Advisory, warns motorists to be vigilant when driving tonight
The National Weather Service in Mount Holly has issued a coastal flood advisory until 3 a.m. Saturday for Monmouth and Ocean counties, and southeastern Burlington County.
Up to one half foot of inundation above ground level should be expected in low-lying areas near shorelines and tidal waterways, according to the weather service.
Motorists should anticipate flooding on vulnerable roads in coastal and bayside communities, and along inland tidal waterways. Some partial or full road closures may be necessary during the night, the weather service said in a bulletin that was repeated by the Asbury Park Police Department on Friday night.
If travel is required, motorists should give themselves extra time tonight and into the overnight hours. Do not drive around barricades or through water of unknown depth, the weather service stated in its alert to the public just after 6:30 p.m. Friday.
