Queen Elizabeth and Princess Margaret's Childhood Dresses Provide Inspiration for New Capsule Collection
Children’s clothing brand Pepa London is perhaps best known among royal watchers for creating the bridesmaid and page boy outfits for Pippa Middleton’s 2017 wedding. And now, the designer has announced a unique collaboration with royal charity Historic Royal Palaces to create a capsule collection inspired by royal childhood.
Pepa London was given access to the Royal Ceremonial Dress Collection, a treasure trove of some 10,000 items dating from the 16th century. Items in the collection, including two matching Liberty print cotton dresses worn by Princess Elizabeth and Princess Margaret, have inspired the limited edition range of children’s clothing.

The sisters in the dresses with the Duke of York in 1935.
“This collection was born out of a deep, longstanding admiration for the Royal Family —an inspiration that has really shaped us as a brand from the very beginning,” Pepa’s founder and creative director Pepa González told T&C. “One of our defining moments was dressing the little ones for Pippa Middleton’s wedding seven years ago. That experience, and the honour of working so closely with the family, has stayed with us. When Historic Royal Palaces reached out and invited us to view the Royal Ceremonial Dress Collection, it felt like a natural and meaningful step.”
Pepa described the princesses’ Liberty print dresses as “a tender, timeless snapshot of family” and told how she wanted to “honor that inspiration while giving it a fresh interpretation.” The original Liberty print dresses are currently on display in Kensington Palace exhibition Dress Codes.

Some items are inspired by Queen Victoria’s children’s outfits.
Other items in Pepa’s new collection have a nautical theme, having taken inspiration from sailor suits worn by Queen Victoria’s children. “The mariner pieces have been reimagined with crisp structured cottons, gold piping, and sharp tailoring, blending naval heritage with modern refinement,” the brand said in a statement. The finished items were brought to life in a photoshoot at Hampton Court Palace, which is the home to the Royal Ceremonial Dress Collection.
“What sets this capsule apart is how we’ve taken those rich historical references and reimagined them for today’s children, using delicate Liberty florals, timeless silhouettes, and thoughtful details,” Pepa said. “Every piece is designed not just to be worn, but to be cherished and remembered. They’re heirlooms in the making.” A portion of proceeds from the collection will support charity Historic Royal Palaces.

The collection was captured at Hampton Court Palace.
The Pepa London and Historic Royal Palaces capsule collection is available starting in mid-July at pepalondon.com, Pepa London stores in Belgravia and Palm Beach, as well as a dedicated Pop-Up space in Harrods in Knightsbridge.
