The verdict of Sean 'Diddy' Combs

Sean 'Diddy' Combs bowed and made a gesture of prayer after he heard the verdict in his case of trafficking and abuse. He was found guilty of two out of five counts, and they were the lesser charges of the group.
Guilty

After three days of deliberations by a jury of eight men and four women, they found Combs found guilty of two counts of transportation for the purpose of p ro sti tut ion.
Not enough for life sentence

While he is guilty of these counts, they will not constitute a life sentence in jail, like some of the others he was acquitted of.
He transported people across the US

Combs was convicted of transporting persons across the United States for se*ual encounters, including his girlfriends and male workers. This is a violation under the Mann Act.
Acquitted of the most serious charges

However, the rapper was acquitted of se* trafficking and extortion for manipulating his girlfriends into participating in hundreds of intimate marathons with other men while under the influence of drugs. Guilt on the former charge could have resulted in a life sentence.
Cassie Ventura, one of the witnesses

Cassie Ventura, Combs's ex-girlfriend, along with another of the rapper's ex-girlfriends — the pseudonym Jane — testified against him.
Forced 'f r e a k - o u t s'

Both claimed they were forced to have intimate encounters with male escorts while under the influence of drugs.
Domestic abuse

They also claimed they suffered abuse during their relationships with Combs. Former employees, escorts, and hotel staff testified to confirm their stories.
He says it was 'voluntary participation'

The producer's defense argued that the women "participated voluntarily" and that he did not use his monetary or physical power to manipulate his partners.
Two decades committing crimes

For her part, Assistant District Attorney Christy Slavik stated that Combs spent 20 years manipulating his employees into complying with his demands.
"He's the leader of a criminal enterprise. He doesn't take no for an answer."
Loyal employees to a powerful star

She also said that Diddy has loyal employees and personal assistants who knew their job was to say yes to him.
He faces 10 years in prison

Instead of the possible life sentence, Combs faces up to 10 years in prison.
Family kept supporting him

Diddy's mother and six adult children were in the courtroom when the verdict was read. They were happy with the result as they fully support the artist. According to CNN, Combs said to his mother: "Thank you. Love you, Mom. I love you. I love you. I love you." He also applauded in the direction of his family, as if he encouraged them to do the same, Men's Journal reported.
Video evidence

During the seven-week trial, various types of evidence were presented. Videos of the "extremely intimate" sessions, which were kept secret from the public and the media, were shown to the jury.
Possible appeal

Despite the evidence of, and witnesses to, these offenses, the rapper's case can be appealed and he could also make a case for release on bail.
