Tropical Storm Chantal left copious amounts of tropical moisture behind and that combined with a surface low-pressure system stretched out over the Piedmont Triad on Wednesday, sparking torrential downpours and significant flash flooding. Severe storms that moved through Thursday caused more flash flooding over the central Triad communities of High Point, Kernersville, Lexington, and Thomasville.
