7/14/2025: Storms bring heavy rain this afternoon
The latest Storm Tracker Forecast from meteorologist Matt Mackie:
A storm system moving in today will tap into very humid conditions locally, producing heavy rain and prompting flooding concerns for parts of the area.

After lighter showers this morning, thunderstorms are expected to develop after lunchtime. High temperatures will peak in the low to mid 80’s.

Storms will be slow moving – once they develop, they will take some time to clear any one particular location, leading to especially high rainfall totals. Greene, Columbia, and Berkshire counties are most likely to see the highest totals, and have been placed under a Flood Watch by the National Weather Service.

Meanwhile, north of Albany, the storms are much fewer and further between. Rain will begin to ease up and move out after sunset, with most everyone dry by midnight. In Albany, temperatures will fall to around 70 by daybreak. Most everyone else will drop into the 60’s for overnight lows, with a select few in the Adirondacks down into the 50’s.

Tomorrow looks less oppressively humid – though still hot and slightly muggy. Highs will range from the low 80’s in the mountains to around 90 in the Capital District. Most will stay dry.

Wednesday looks much the same, with only slightly higher chances for a pop up thunderstorm in the afternoon. Much higher humidity will lend itself to more widespread showers and storms for Thursday and Friday.

The following weekend, however, looks fantastic. Expect lower humidity, more refreshing temperatures in the morning, afternoon highs in the mid 80’s, and only a slight chance for a couple pop up thunderstorms Sunday afternoon.
