According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, total private average hourly earnings are $32.37 as of March 2025. That hourly rate is not seasonally adjusted. The data shows that the average weekly earnings are $1,052.03, and Delawareans work 32.5 hours per week, on average.
Which neighboring state earns the most
New Jersey workers make an average of $37.68, while Maryland workers make $35.63. Pennsylvania workers make slightly more at $32.52.
Where do people earn the most per hour?
Employees in the nation's capital of Washington earn the most money with an average hourly pay of $52.25 per hour. This is significantly higher than Ohio's average of $33.22 per hour, nearly a $20 pay bump.
Mississippi earns the least per hour, on average
Mississippi lands in last place as the state that earns the least on average. Average hourly earnings in the Southern state are just $27.88, compared with Ohio's $33.24 per hour.
