House Democrats have countered a Republican redistricting effort in Texas approaching the upcoming midterm elections. Z to A Research polling has indicated that 63% of likely voters in 22 Texas congressional districts consider the GOP’s redistricting unnecessary. Among surveyed respondents, 62% said they would be less likely to support Republican candidates who prioritize redistricting over disaster response efforts.

In reaction, Democrats are targeting five GOP-held seats in Texas. They are also weighing redistricting strategies in California, New York, and New Jersey to boost their electoral prospects.
