Jack Schlossberg Shares an Intimate, Rarely-Seen Photo of Jackie Kennedy on Her Birthday

As Ryan Murphy prepares to bring the former First Lady to life on the silver screen with American Love Story, Kennedy Onassis's real-life grandson is giving fans an intimate glimpse at what his grandmother was like behind the scenes on what would have been her 96th birthday.

In a rarely-seen photo depicting an idyllic tableau, the late socialite could be seen sitting seemingly amid her grandchildren in a homey, outdoor setting. In contrast to her glamorous, coiffed persona in the White House, Jackie looked surprisingly casual as she covered her hair with a red scarf. Wearing a black long-sleeved shirt that she wore rolled up to her forearms and a black watch, John F. Kennedy’s former wife appeared to be reaching for something on the table as three children looked on.

An unknown woman, potentially Jackie and JFK’s only daughter Caroline Kennedy, could be seen holding a baby while two toddlers sat on either side of the ex-First Lady. 

“Happy 96th birthday grandjackie,” Schlossberg affectionately captioned the image, revealing that his grandmother lived by the rule “never complain, never explain.” He also revealed that Jackie worked as a book editor for Double Day publishing company, where she edited Michael Jackson’s memoir.

Jackie O.—whose other grandkids include Rose Schlossberg and Tatiana Schlossberg—passed away in 1994. She reportedly never met her late son John F. Kennedy Jr.’s wife, Carolyn Bessette-Kennedy, a dynamic that will likely be explored in the highly-anticipated American Love Story. The former Calvin Klein publicist and JFK Jr. both tragically died during a plane crash in 1999.
