For much of the week, highs will be about 10 to 20 degrees below average. Average high temperatures for mid-May sit near 70 degrees, but we will see daytime temperatures fail to break out of the 50s, at times.

forecast wind gusts thursday evening

Expect pockets of drizzle or a spot shower from time to time Wednesday, but many dry hours are expected both days, as highs mostly settle in the 50s.

POTENTIALLY WIND-DRIVEN RAIN FOR THURSDAY

A system will develop to our south Wednesday night into Thursday morning and then track nearby Thursday night into Friday morning. It will bring heavy rain for many and gusty winds for some during that time.

The heaviest rain will likely fall in southern New Hampshire, where up to 1-1.5 inches of rainfall is possible. Lighter totals, closer to a quarter to a half inch of rain, expected north of the White Mountains.

Wet snowflakes could mix in at times over the White Mountains later Thursday night into early Friday morning, but any accumulations would be limited to higher summits.

While the concern for flooding is low at this point, slower travel conditions are possible on Thursday afternoon and night due to some ponding on roads.

Winds will also start to increase on Thursday evening, especially near the coast and along western slopes of the White Mountains.

Right now, it looks like most of the rain will clear out of southern New Hampshire by midday and farther north during the early afternoon.

MEMORIAL DAY WEEKEND OUTLOOK

Drier weather builds in over the holiday weekend, but it is not a perfect forecast for outdoor plans.

Both Saturday and Sunday could feature some scattered showers, but no washouts are expected. Temperatures each day are expected to reach the 60s.

While it is still several days away, Memorial Day looks a bit brighter and drier. Temperatures look more seasonable for Memorial Day parades and events.
