Jeff Bezos’ Next-Door Neighbor in Miami Sells For $110 Million

Bezos was approached about buying the parcel, but he chose not to move ahead.

The deal

When a piece of land on Florida’s Indian Creek Island hit the market last year for $200 million, local agents predicted the buyer would be Jeff Bezos. After all, the waterfront site is directly adjacent to two properties owned by the Amazon billionaire.

They were wrong. An international finance executive is in contract to pay $110 million for the roughly 2-acre site, according to Manny Angelo Varas, a builder of ultraluxury homes who drew up plans for a mansion on the Miami-area property. Varas, too, said he was surprised that Bezos hadn’t scooped up the site. While Bezos was approached about the Indian Creek Village parcel, he chose not to move ahead, Varas said. The deal is slated to close mid-June.

The parcel hit the market in late 2024 for $200 million, with plans for a roughly 25,000-square-foot home to be built by Varas. The price was steadily reduced over time, most recently to $130 million.

The buyer and seller

Their identities couldn’t be learned. The seller used a limited liability to purchase the land for $27.5 million in 2018, according to public records.

The waterfront parcel is located in Indian Creek Village.

Inside Billionaires’ Bunker

Bezos owns three properties on Indian Creek. He closed on a $68 million mansion there in June 2023, then added a $79 million property next door in October of that year. Then, in 2024, he bought a home on the other side of the island for $87 million.

Bezos’ deals have cemented Indian Creek Island’s reputation as the Billionaire’s Bunker of the Miami area. The man-made barrier island has long been popular with boldfaced names such as NFL legend Tom Brady, billionaire Carl Icahn and Jared Kushner and Ivanka Trump.

Bezos didn’t respond to a request for comment. Listing agent Ilya Reznik declined to comment.
