Top 5+ can’t-miss restaurant openings and dining updates in Boston this week

It’s a good time to be a Greater Boston diner in 2025, with exciting and diverse restaurant openings occurring all over the metro area. 

Each week, Boston.com will highlight the restaurant openings worth knowing about across the Greater Boston region. Some spots will already be open, while others are set to debut soon or later this year. At least one featured restaurant will always be a bonus item — either a pop-up, a collaboration, or event at area restaurants.

What’s new in Greater Boston restaurant openings this week

Brookline Lunch

Given its name, it seems it was meant to be that this breakfast and lunch favorite in Cambridge would get a second location in Brookline, reported Brookline.News. The Central Square owners’ son, Mushhoor Abu-Rubieh, will run the popular Middle Eastern diner in the former Busy Bee, an iconic diner that closed after 56 years in business. 

Opening date: Fall 2025

Gary’s Pizza

We’ll never complain about more pizza options in Greater Boston. Gary’s, from Columbus Hospitality Group (responsible for some of Boston’s fanciest restaurants, like Mistral and Ostra), brings the harder-to-find Roman-style pizza to the South End.

Scobie’s Cafe & Bar

The Dorchester cafe and bar just opened last year, but they’ve already scored a second location in City Hall. Owned by Anne Lydon, the business was chosen after a competitive RFP process from the City of Boston. Expect a much simpler menu that focuses on their weekday cafe items.

The Sports Bra

If you’ve ever looked for a bar that streams women’s sports games, then you know your options are limited around Boston. That’s why The Sports Bra founder Jenny Nguyen started this sports bar concept in Portland, Oregon, and she’s now bringing the bar to four other U.S. cities, including Boston. If the new locations are anything like the Portland spot, offerings will include food and beverages from women-owned breweries, distilleries and artisan food businesses, reported The Boston Globe.

Bonus: Urban Hearth and Notch Brewing crab feast

Chef Erin Miller of Urban Hearth is bringing back her Mid-Atlantic-inspired crab feast for its second year. A $68 ticket gets guests six large steamed blue crabs, corn on the cob, potato salad, and a watermelon slice. Ice-cold beer and non-alcoholic options will also be available.
