Wide receiver Tyran Evans announced on June 18 that he has decommitted from Tennessee football. The four-star had been committed to the Vols since January.

"After a lot of prayer and thought, I’ve decided to decommit from the University of Tennessee," Evans wrote on X. "Thank you to Coach Heupel, Coach Kelsey Pope, Coach Joey Halzle, and the entire Vol staff for believing in me. I appreciate everything you’ve done for me and my family."

Tyran Evans is a wide receiver from Cornelius, North Carolina, in the 2026 recruiting class.

The 6-foot-3 185-pound Evans is the No. 81 wide receiver for 2026 in the 247Sports Composite rankings.

In his junior season, he hauled in 36 catches for 980 yards and 14 touchdowns for Hough High in Cornelius, North Carolina.

The visits didn't stop after Evans committed to coach Josh Heupel.

Over the last month, Evans visited Kentucky on May 30, NC State on June 6 and Miami on June 13.

Evans originally had a visit set with the Vols on June 20.

Tennessee has nine commitments in the 2026 class: quarterback Faizon Brandon, athlete Luke Thompson, tight end Carson Sneed, offensive lineman Gabriel Osenda, wide receiver Tyreek King, linebacker Braylon Outlaw, defensive lineman C.J. Edwards, defensive lineman Zach Groves, and safety K.J. McClain.
