Get to know Circleville High School's Addison Edgington, recipient of 2025 Courage Award

Circleville girls basketball player Addison Edgington received the Courage Award on June 18 during the Central Ohio High School Sports Awards, coming off a sophomore season in which she recovered from life-threatening injuries to lead the Tigers to a district runner-up finish.

Edgington, a 6-foot-2 center, averaged 17.2 points and 7.8 rebounds and shot 57.1% from the field as Circleville (20-5) reached a Division IV Southeast District final against league rival and eventual state semifinalist Fairfield Union.

Edgington was named first-team all-district and second-team all-state.

The Courage Award recognizes an athlete who showed greatness and strength that went beyond the field and courts.

Edgington was an immediate standout as a freshman, averaging 17.3 points and 7.9 rebounds when she was involved in a one-car crash on Jan. 26, 2024. She suffered four fractured vertebrae, three breaks in her jawbone and a dissected carotid artery in her neck and spent 2½ weeks in the hospital and several months in physical therapy.

Circleville's Addison Edgington received the Courage Award at the Central Ohio High School Sports Awards on June 18.

The Tigers, who were 15-0 at the time of Edgington’s injury, won their next nine games and lost in a district final.
