Amal Clooney proved that a little black dress is palace-worthy
The timelessness of a little black dress is undisputed, but if there was ever any doubt about its suitability, Amal Clooney just proved that the classic style really can be worn anywhere.
Yesterday, the lawyer and human rights activist attended a reception for the King's Trust Awards at Buckingham Palace in London, and looked effortlessly elegant while doing so. Clooney — who time and time again has demonstrated her sophisticated yet feminine wardrobe — opted for a black off-the-shoulder mini dress which featured knotted detailing on the sleeves.

Although this wasn't a white or black tie event, there's always an expected element of formality to royal engagements at Buckingham Palace. Clooney mastered the dress code with ease, styling her little black dress with a metallic gold clutch bag and a matching pair of gold and perspex stiletto heels.

The lawyer chose to go minimalist with her jewellery, forgoing a necklace to highlight her décolletage and wearing only a pair of delicate gold hoop drop earrings. She styled her cascading brunette waves in a side parting, with her hair falling over one shoulder.
Clooney was in attendance to present the Amal Clooney Women’s Empowerment Award, which seeks to "highlight the global work of young women who have succeeded against the odds and made a lasting difference to those around them," according to the organisation's website.
Speaking on the award during its inception in 2022, Clooney said it was "a particular pleasure to be able to champion young women making a difference in their communities."
Each year, the King's Trust Awards recognises and celebrates the achievements of young people who have worked to improve their own circumstances and contributed to the community, as well as their mentors.
