Bradley International Airport in Connecticut receives $8.5 million from the US Dept. of Transportation
The Connecticut Congressional delegation announced Friday that Bradley International Airport in Windsor Locks and Danbury Municipal Airport both were awarded money by the U.S. Department of Transportation.
Bradley International Airport is receiving a grant worth $8,537,126. This funding will be spent on expanding the existing Terminal A by 25,230 square feet.
The expansion project is expected to allow both passengers and baggage to move more efficiently. It should also bring the airport into compliance with current safety standards.
The Federal Aviation Administration previously awarded Bradley International Airport more than $30 million in federal funding to help support the project.
For the indefinite future, passengers can expect to see the airport bustling with activity, as work progresses.
Danbury Municipal Airport was awarded $225.378 in grant funding to replace existing airport lighting vault equipment.
In Friday’s release, the Connecticut Congressional delegation issued a joint statement, claiming to be proud to have secured crucial federal funding to upgrade and elevate the state’s infrastructure.
“More than $8.7 million of federal investment for Connecticut’s airports will deliver important infrastructure upgrades at Bradley International Airport and Danbury Municipal Airport,” the delegation said. “Bradley is receiving additional funds for a much-needed terminal expansion – greatly improving the passenger experience and satisfying safety standards.”
