The government of Baja California Sur has introduced the Embrace It Tax as a way to support sustainable tourism. With nearly 2 million visitors in early 2025, the state is working to reduce tourism’s impact and invest in environmental, cultural, and infrastructure projects.

All foreign travelers staying over 24 hours are required to pay.

The mandatory tax is MX$470 (about US$25–$27) and applies to every international traveler staying in Baja California Sur for more than 24 hours. Payment is strongly recommended before arrival and can be easily completed online via the official Travelkore platform, which allows payment for up to 10 people at once.

After payment, travelers receive a QR code by email to present at airports, seaports, or border crossings as proof. The platform accepts multiple currencies, including USD, and the process typically takes just a few minutes.

Paying the Embrace It tax is a quick and straightforward process that can be completed online in just a few minutes. Travelers need to provide essential details, including their passport number, arrival and departure dates, and contact information.

The payment platform accepts multiple major currencies, such as USD, CAD, GBP, and EUR. Upon successful payment, a QR code is immediately emailed to the traveler, serving as proof of payment.

This QR code must be presented at various entry and exit points within Baja California Sur, including airports, seaports, and border crossings.
