Wednesday was a memorable day for Milwaukee Brewers closer Trevor Megill. Apart from getting the pitching win in the 3-2 victory over the reigning World Series champions Los Angeles Dodgers, Megill also learned that he will be part of the upcoming 2025 MLB All-Star Game, which is scheduled for next Tuesday. 

Megill replaces his teammate, Freddy Peralta, on the National League’s active roster, as Peralta is slated to pitch on Sunday.

“I’m pretty fired up, that’s for dang sure,” Megill said after learning of his All-Star fate (h/t Adam McCalvy of MLB.com). “This was No. 1 for me this year. You guys asked me [about goals] earlier this season and I kept it to myself that this was what I was striving for. A lot of hard work and a lot of pitchers in front of me — my bullpen guys in front of me putting it down and giving me the opportunity to go out there and get saves this year. Without the guys around me, this probably wouldn’t be possible.”

After recording three strikeouts in a scoreless inning in the series finale versus the Dodgers, Megill improved to 2-2 to go with a 2.41 ERA and 1.16 WHIP plus 21 saves through 36 appearances in the 2025 season.

Meanwhile, Brewers rookie flamethrower Jacob Misiorowski, who put on a show in Tuesday’s win over the Dodgers, was elated by the news of Megill’s All-Star inclusion. Misiorowski shared the Brewers’ Instagram post about Megill’s All-Star selection and added the caption “Lets go.”

Misiorowski has the makings of an All-Star pitcher. He could become one in the near future, given how solid he’s been on the mound so far in his young big league career.
