National Republican Senatorial Committee (NRSC) polling has shown Rep. Jasmine Crockett (D-TX) leading among likely Democratic voters in the Texas Senate race with 35% support. She is followed by Rep. Colin Allred (D-TX) at 20%, and both Beto O'Rourke (D-TX) and Rep. Joaquin Castro (D-TX) at 13%. The race is considered to be critical for both parties, holding major implications for the balance of power in Congress.

The seat is currently held by Republican Sen. John Cornyn (R-TX). It has been widely viewed as a critical target for Democrats aiming to shift control of the Senate.

UT Tyler Professor Ken Wink said, "My assessment is Texas is still a red state. That doesn't mean that it's impossible for Democrats to win, but they don't have a very good track record. It's been decades since they won any statewide race, and I think next year is shaping up again to be a pretty good one for Republicans."

Although Crockett has not officially entered the race, she is gaining prominence within the Democratic Party as a potential challenger to Cornyn. A University of Texas at Tyler poll showed Crockett leading among Democratic voters on “shared values."

Another poll indicates that Allred may have a stronger chance in a general election, leading with 34% support compared to Crockett’s 27%. With the filing deadline nearing, neither O’Rourke nor Castro has announced their intentions.
