MyDigital ID: Register now to ensure continued access to MyJPJ and MyBayar PDRM apps

Malaysians are urged to register for MyDigital ID as soon as possible to ensure uninterrupted access to MyJPJ and MyBayar PDRM apps. MyDigital ID is Malaysia’s National Digital ID platform which offers a single sign-on authentication to verify your identity online.

MyDigital ID didn’t reveal the deadline for the mandatory implementation of MyDigital ID login but it mentions that the Single Login method will be fully enforced in the near future.

At the moment, both MyDigital ID and MyJPJ are offering MyDigital ID as a single sign-on option and users are still able to choose to login using their existing login/passwords.

MyJPJ and MyBayar PDRM to enforce MyDigital ID logins

The MyJPJ app by the Road Transport Department allows users to view and renew their Malaysian Driving Licence (LMM), Motor Vehicle Licence (LKM), check demerit points, blacklist status, summonses, payments and submit complaints. Meanwhile, the MyBayar PDRM is an app which allows users to check and pay for traffic summonses issued by the Royal Malaysian Police.

It is mentioned that non-Malaysians will still be able to access MyBayar PDRM with their existing method.

According to MyDigital ID CEO Nik Hisham Nik Ibrahim, “MyDigital ID as a Single Login promises a new era of digital identity verification that is simpler, safer, and more transparent. We are committed to ensuring every user enjoys maximum convenience with the highest level of security, while accelerating the nation’s digital transformation in an inclusive and resilient manner.”

MyDigital ID verifies a user’s identity via the government’s National Registration Department (JPN) database without storing any personal data. Besides enhancing security of digital transactions, it is designed to ensures a more seamless, user-friendly and trustworthy experience without the need of creating and remembering multiple passwords for various platforms.

MyDigital ID now supports biometric authentication

To make it easier for users to login, MyDigital ID has added biometric authentication which allows users to login using Face ID or fingerprint authentication on their smartphones. When enabled, users can login to supported platforms without the need of keying in their passwords.

To enable biometric authentication, you’ll need to enable it via settings under the MyDigital ID app. You’ll need to enter your MyDigital ID password to enable the feature.

At the moment, MyDigital ID has over 3 million users and it is implemented in more than 45 platforms across government and private sectors.

However, adoption still remains very low and the government is mulling new laws to make it compulsory for all Malaysians to register for MyDigital ID.
