Local leaders break ground on new Ditto Landing event center, construction underway
HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (WHNT) — Local leaders have broken ground on the new event center at Ditto Landing and construction is underway.
Commissioner Phil Riddick and other local leaders held a ceremony to break ground on the renovation project of the State Docks Building at Ditto Landing.
“These renovations will serve as our legacy project for the citizens of Madison County,” said Riddick, Madison County District Five Commissioner. The $13,000,000 Ditto Landing Event Center promises to usher in a new era of possibilities for the area, complementing Huntsville’s diverse offerings in music events, recreation, and leisure destinations. “We are excited to introduce this ambitious project, a transformative initiative aimed at revitalizing an existing 2.5-acre space into a vibrant outdoor destination,” stated Riddick.
Most of the funding for this project will be from Commissioner Riddick’s budget.
“This event center will extend beyond honoring the beauty of its setting along the Tennessee River. It will become a focal point of activity, a space where connections are made, memories are created, and our shared community spirit thrives,” said Brandi Quick, Executive Director, HSV-Madison County Marina & Port Authority. “Thanks to the combined efforts of our community leaders, our customers, and supporters for being part of this exciting journey.”
